Pay only for services provided.

We understand financial pressure, particularly in the context of separation and divorce. That is why we subscribe to the “pay for the actual services” model.

MEDIATION: AJ bills for her work on an hourly basis. We do not offer a block fee, in other words “pay us $10,000 and we will resolve your family law dispute” - which is something offered by other mediation providers. Why? Because not everyone has a large chunk of money to deposit into the mediator’s account upfront and second, the actual work required to mediate your matter to settlement may not reflect the block fee. For example, if you are able to settle your issues in one mediation session lasting 3 hours, why would you pay a block fee representing more time and more work? We believe you should pay only for those three hours and any additional, related work to make that dialogue effective.

PARENTING COORDINATION: Here, too, AJ bills for her work on an hourly basis. As PC services are generally delivered over a longer period of time, special retainer arrangements are made so services can be delievered at the required frequency and intensity, and without interruptions. Proportions at which the parents pay for PC services can be discussed and agreed-on. If the PC is required to make a decision (an Award), she has the ability to reapportions costs of the arbitration.
